AMANDA AFROCLOTHIER NTOYI

Amanda Ntoyi’s Facebook page “Amanda The Afroclothier Ntoyi” blazes a sense of style, colour and talent that personify her fashion designs. Nothing can be less than describing Amanda Ntoyi’s clothing range as embodiment of great African sense of style, fineness, and presence for the young, old, skinny, and fuller figures. Born and bred in Worcester in the Western Cape, Amanda studied Clothing Management at Cape Peninsula University of Technology but never completed her qualifications due to financial challenges. However, Amanda’s love to design clothes that brings the best in people’s appearances never crashed.
Amanda’s fashion designs transcend struggles she faces in establishing herself as a fashion designer and in creating a fully-fledged fashion line. Amanda designs anything from wedding dresses, funky clothes, traditional to modern outfits. Currently her clientele is limited to few people in Worcester and random from other provinces. Amanda aspires to augment her clientele when she opens her fashion line – something she intends to do after completing the mentorship programme which the Small Enterprise Development Agency (SEDA) has enrolled her for.
Speaking to Amanda is like drinking water from a holy fountain – a fountain that renews hope and inspires one to do good and persevere against difficulty. Her graceful face and voice are both reassuring and make one to believe that “there is light at the end of the tunnel” for young people for as long as they have dreams and work hard towards achieving them. Amanda perceives her designing talent as a gift from God and humbling honour as it lends her influence on her clients’ confidence. “I respect my profession as it gives me a humbling honour to restore confidence back and make my clients realise their greatest version just as God expects us to look at ourselves.” This humility and awareness are some of the virtues that have kept Amanda inspired amid hardships.
